'Chinglish' to shut on Broadway Jan. 29
"Chinglish," David Henry Hwang's play a good American businessman dealing with translation and romantic problems in China, will close on Jan. 29, the producers introduced on Monday. The play, which formerly went at Chicago's Goodman Theatre, may have given 128 performances in the Longacre Theatre. Back Stage critic Erik Haagensen known as the show a "wise and uproarious comedy" and designated Angela Lin who plays two supporting roles, as giving among his ten memorable NY theater performances of 2011. "Miracle/Bird," Eric Simonson's new play about basketball stories Earvin "Miracle" Manley and Ray Bird, will start preview performances in the Longacre on March 21 prior to an April 11 opening, producers introduced on Tuesday. Two other Broadway shows "On the Obvious Day You Can Observe Forever" and "Relatively Speaking" will even close on Jan. 29.
